The only thing I've done differently in ALL of my 14 years of being natural is handle my hair more gently, wash it on a weekly basis and wear protective styles. A) No. Actually, I was bald-headed well into my toddler years. My hair is the longest it has ever been in my life. *I* did not know I could grow hair this long. Q) Do you TRIM your hair. And if so, how often? A) I trim off my weathered ends AND knots that I can't undo. Yes, SOME knots can be undone! But it takes practice and knowledge of which knots are worth the bother. I don't trim my hair "haphazardly", as I've called it, but some people may find trimming their hair evenly without examining their ends to be the most realistic method considering their lifestyle. I have always tried to be upfront and honest about the amount of time I spend caring for my hair. Hair that is well maintained/preserved requires less trimming. If you seek to *maximize* your length retention, you MUST look at each and every strand. Sounds crazy & impossible, but that is what I do. Yes, it takes hours. I usually go through my twists and trim weathered ends & knots while in front of the TV. :o) I do this as needed, that way, I can catch strands that I've missed. Since I'm ...
